Running Christmas Gift List 2016

Although I’ve already eaten a large chunk of the Christmas supplies, there is still over a week until Christmas. Plenty of time to get that runner in your life a Christmas gift they’ll love! I may or may not be leaving this list here as a hint towards what I hope arrives under the tree come Christmas day, but even so all would make great gifts for any runner!

1. Advanced Marathoning

Advanced Marathoning BookI talked about this book in my recent post on running by heart rate and it’s great for the marathoner in your life who is looking to improve their marathon performance. As an alternative to this for someone who might be training for their first marathon, or prefers the shorter distance, I’d recommend Running with the Kenyans: Discovering the secrets of the fastest people on earth as another good option.

2. Petzl Reactik + Rechargeable Headtorch

Petzl Reactik + Headtorch On these dark mornings and winter nights it’s important to see and be seen so a head torch is a must. I recently reviewed the predecessor of this head torch, the RXP which I love and this version just adds to the great features. Not a budget head torch but seems built to last. Check it out.

3. 1000 Mile Fusion Anklet Running Socks

1000 Miles Socks As a runner I can never have enough socks and these ones from 1000 Mile are particularly special. With a double layer construction they eliminate friction greatly reducing the occurrence of blisters – something we can all be grateful for! They’re super comfy too!

4. Garmin Forerunner 230/235

Garmin Forerunner 230 I know so many people picking up this smart watch for Christmas. I use the Garmin Forerunner 230 myself and absolutely love this watch. It doesn’t have some of the advanced features you’ll find on the Forerunner 630 but I couldn’t justify the increased cost for my use. The 235 version has the built in optical heart rate sensor and both the 230 and 235 can be used with an external heart rate monitor.

I’ve tried to include items from different price levels so hopefully you’ve found something to fit your budget.

Now all we have to do is wait and see what finds it’s way down the chimney on Christmas Eve. What are you hoping to unwrap in a couple of weeks? Why not leave some hints in the comments!
